BMW Brake Repair

BMW BRAKESM

Brakes

Old school mechanics have no idea about the complexity of modern BMW braking systems. Most of them won’t invest time for training on the new computerized equipment for BMW brake repair, Anti Lock Braking Systems (ABS), and Electronic Stability Programs (ESP). Just because a shop has a scan tool that is only the beginning of the learning curve. German Car Depot is a Bosch Factory Authorized service repair center with Bosch Factory training and technical support to fix your BMW correct the first time in.

BMW Brake Repair Cost

Repair costs vary between models because of different brake sizes for different options, engine size, and wheel size. Brake jobs cost on average as low as $189 and as high as $1500. The best way to find out the cost of brake repairs is to Schedule an appointment.

Brake Pads

Brake pads come in a variety of qualities at GCD. We take pride in understanding that safety is our FIRST priority. Using only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) factory brake pads is nothing to fool around with.

Brake Discs / Rotors

The most common issue with brake rotors is warpage. When that happens you will feel pulsating when you press the brake pedal which gets worse the harder you push. The brake calipers push the brake pads against the rotors to slow your car. German Car Depot inspects your rotors for warpage, cracks, hardening, and wear thickness. Rotors should always be changed in pairs.

Brake Pad Sensors

The brake pad sensor is used to measure the amount of life left in the brake pads. When the pads wear down they rub on the rotors / brake disks. When this happens a light in your dash will come on. Unfortunately, you have already damaged your rotors. The only thing bad about waiting until the light comes on is that you might have to waste hundreds of dollars to replace rotors. Many times you can get 2 sets of pads on one set of rotors. The sensors must be replaced at the same time as the brake pads.

Brake Booster – Vacuum Pumps

If your car isn’t stopping as easily and your brake pedal is getting harder to push, you may have a faulty vacuum pump. The vacuum pump is used to assist in the movement of the master cylinder. Most modern BMWs use a mechanical brake booster or an electric booster. Brake boosters can also leak oil, which in most cases will result in a burning smell and a mess on your driveway.

Brake Fluid

Brake fluid is a hydraulic fluid specially formulated to withstand the extreme pressures and temperatures of your braking system. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years or when the moisture is at no more than 2%. Only BMW approved Brake Fluid – DOT 4 Low Viscosity should be used.

Brake Master Cylinders

The master cylinder is a device that converts your foot pressure into hydraulic pressure.
